Berry Smoothie

A delicious, easy and healthy smoothie recipe with ingredients you probably already have at home!

Smoothies are a healthy, quick snack to make even on the go. I hate buying smoothies when I’m out because I find that they usually have a ton of added sugar, at home smoothies are cheaper over time and I tend to find that mine are usually more flavorful anyways! You don’t need to use all of your spending money on high quality, labeled “healthy” ingredients. Most of these items I usually have at home, and if you don’t you may always replace them with what you would like.

This recipe makes 1 glass, and takes about 5 min to make.

Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp. almond butter (you may cut this out if you don’t have any, or even use regular peanut butter!)
  • 2 tbsp. plain, greek yogurt (I usually just use one dining spoon)
  • 1/2 to 1 cup of frozen berries of your choice (I usually get the cheap WinCo berry medley: blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries) *
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup of milk of your choice. (You may need 1/2 cup if your smoothie is not blending smoothly) *

* Note: frozen berries allow you to not use ice, if you use fresh berries you will need ice to create a cold, smoothie texture.

* Note: I love to use oat milk or almond milk as I usually don’t drink dairy, but use whatever you have on hand and prefer! Dairy makes it a bit creamier anyways.

This smoothie not only uses no added sugar, but if almond butter is used provides a good source of healthy fats. The greek yogurt is an excellent source of healthy gut microbes along with giving your smoothie a tang, and of course the berries are full of antioxidants, vitamins and flavor!

I hope you enjoy this no added sugar, healthy, and tasty smoothie for an easy snack. Feel free to double the recipe, and stay tuned for more smoothie ideas to come.

Stay balanced, Alyx.
